fizzy lemon will have been a name that Raleigh gave to a colour they liked. that colur will have been chosen from a set of paint chips from a paint supplier who supplied in bulk to industry in the UK in the 1970's, its possible but unlikley that they made their own colours up.

say ICI had a lemmony yellow called lemon
it would be sold to a range of companies who made cars bikes fridges etc
each would give it a stock code and a name
so ford cortina supersonic sunshine lemon ford part SSL1394 would relate to ICI Lemon in the ford OEM parts list
ford would get ICI to mix and pack Ford supersonic sunshine lemon

after a few people crashed their lemony fords other suppliers would also make copies of that colour so insurance companies could get repairs done without having to go to ford for their orginal paint

Raleigh may well be using ford supersonic sunshine lemon but be calling it fizzy lemon and they would not know. all they knew was they asked ICI to package that lemon colour thatthey liked in the 1974 ICI paint catalogue as fizzy lemon and supply in bulk and touch up packs

hence

fizzy lemon probably exists in some company's paint chip catalogue called somethig much less dramatic
probably in about 5 didfefrent finishes dark tint light tint matt semi matt with metallic flake and without.

if that is the case any paint supplier should have the base colour on their computer and should be able to tint it to match a good example of the orginal colour

the yellow ochre colour used on some choppers
some GP lambrettas
by chrysler as hot mustard,(valiant) butterscotch (dodge) and bahama yellow(plymouth)
by renault on their megane
by porche on mid 80s front engined cars
by lotus on some of th wedge shaped cars

is all the same its just tinted slightly and used over different coloured primer to get subtly different look
the shade can be traced back to one of the big multinational paint suppliers in the late 60s

when i was a kid the fella next door had an audi in that rare metallic green that some mk1 chopper have father and son had matching coloured transport.
and the really orange orange is exceedingly close to one of the two HEMI orange's chrylser used on engines and cars from the late 60s.

you will never get it right becasue no two batches of paint are the same, raleigh wouldn't have managed that either, but you will get it very very nearly right

Dave
