We brought this off ebay a few weeks ago. it seems like an early MK2 as the hub date says september 1971. We have fixed the bike up. We fitted a pair on new handlebars and a new rear mudguard and a new seat, we have also fitted a new crank and a new chain and new tires we also fitted a new rear brake cable. It is perfectly rideable as it is however if you wanted to renovate it fully you would probably need to respray and rechrome. All it needs is a chainguard fitted and a front mudguard otherwise thwe bike is all there.
I dont want to fiddle with this any more. It is a nice bike and handle's well.
If you are interested please make me an offer. It is a nice genuine bike just needs finishing off.

I had an early red Mk2, hub date '72 but it had Mk1 adjustable bars and stem, Mk1 brake levers, Mk1 front wheel, the early chainwheel and chromed metal spoke protector......when sold it went to Jersey.....

| Yea this one seems to have MK1 brakes front and rear, MK1 front wheel. I am not sure about the handlebars though. It had MK2 ones when i brought it but they were sprayed with silver paint, rusted through and were bent so i replaced them with the current ones. |

Choppers don't die, if it's used for parts then it's all for the greater good.
The frame would then probably be used as a basis for a fresh project which could be seen as the pheonix rising from the flames (or in this case the Heron).
God i'm feeling deep tonight

aha i sure hope so. It is a shame because it was a nice bike except that the frame needed a respray, part of the cissy bar had sapped inside the frame and that would have had to be removed, one of the pedals was stuck on and the other one was a different type of pedal, the stand needed adjusting because it hit into the pedal and made lots of noise, the rear wheel needed a new spoke protector and maybe new bearings and the gear shifter needed a window and the plastic inside wasnt moving, it needed a front mudguard and a chauinguard and the handlebars may have needed respraying the front wheel was buckled and it needed new spokes but otherwise was a perfect chopper! At least it gives me the excuse for getting another one! I need to buy another one now |
